Barry McGee/Margaret Kilgallen

It was interesting to see hand crafted art work still being used. Now a days, it is much easier to make it digitally and print it out somewhere in a form and size. But after seeing McGee and Kilgallen take art back to being hand drawn was interesting. It would take weeks or months to finish one big painting of something that is hand painted. Doing something hand made does have its advantages, because anything can be your canvas. In the video, they've used trains, walls, buildings, and etc. Its like the whole world is your canvas to draw on it. Some people will think when they see graffiti somewhere that its damaged property and that the building or where ever graffiti is done on doesn't make it look nice anymore. But to artist, graffiti is another medium to express oneself artistically. They think it makes a world a more colorful place with their graffiti art.

Linda Zacks

The artist I looked up was Linda Zacks. I focused more of her work using blurb to create a book out of her findings. Looking through her book, was like looking through a scrap book that had this unique collaborate art work in it. Her book, NYC Soul City, had this urban street feel to it which you can only get when your in New York. She showed her collections that she found in New York and edited or tampered with it in some way that gave it that grungy feel which made it more interesting.

1000 Journals Part 1

After watching the first half of the video of 1000 Journals. It was interesting that this project that Someguy came up with was able to get people involved in adding stuff into the journal. It was amazing to see the journal tell stories of where its been around the world and the people it came in contacted with. It was as if the whole world became connected through this journal. Not only connect people from around the world, but it also brought back their creativity back that has been forgotten or lost over the years. After watching this, I was hoping that the journals are still in circulation and people are still putting stuff into the journal. It would be great if I was able to get my hands on one of them and see the pages where it has been and for me to put something onto that journal as well.
After watching what Someguy did to the journals, got me motivated to do a project similar to this but keep it centered around cal state san marcos. To see what students and faculty will add to this book if they got their hands on it. To be able to know what students are adding on it no matter what major or interests they have. Even the faculty, no matter what kind of professor or faculty member. The possibility to put something on the journal are endless. It would be amazing to see how cal state san marcos could be connected through a journal like this.
