Artist Book: The Long Love

Here is my artist book that I created in class. The book I used was titled, The Long Love, and I decided to title that as my piece as well. When I was making this book, I had no paths or plan on what to do with this book. I simply just grabbed a xacto knife and started cutting inside the pages to see what it would look like. After awhile, I found myself cutting deeper and deeper into the pages of the book and I kept on going and going. Then it came to me, and decided to keep cutting through because I had a plan now of what to do. I've seen before, keepsake books like average looking books and when you open it, theres a little storage place to keep something valuable in it. And so I decided to make one. Here are a few scan images of how it turned out. When I was done cutting, the edges around where I cut were rough and messy, so make it cleaner, I decided to wrap it with another paper and cover the edges so it would look and be smooth, so that no cuts will be coming out or showing up.

Mark Bradford

Mark Bradford's type of art is very interesting and rather unique in a way. Bradford creates collages and installation art pieces that are wall sized. His work correlates with the economy, community, and public space within the city. The materials he uses are what he finds and scavenges around city buildings and streets.
